Tuesday 15 November 2018 - Ely Cathedral Christmas Fair

Our small (but beautifully formed of course ) group met at Ely Cathedral for the most amazing Christmas shopping experience inside the stunning and ancient cathedral of Ely followed by lunch in the cathedral’s Almonry Restaurant.

Now in its seventh successive year this annual Christmas Gift & Food Fair offers more than 150 traders selling bespoke and beautiful gifts, decorations, food and wine. The event, filling space throughout the cathedral, can lay claim to being unique as one of the largest held indoors with amazing ambience provided by the majestic setting.

The Festive Food Hall is a gastronomic delight with an emphasis on good quality, regional produce. These gourmet specialists include cheesemongers, chocolatiers, patisseries, delicatessens, purveyors of oils, vinegars and preserves, distillers of gin, vodka & cider and butchers of locally produced meat products and charcuterie.

We had a great and most fascinating day

Women on the March Walk -4 June 2018

In celebration of 100 years of women's voting rights, CartaConsorts took to the streets of London in banner-waving mood under the in-costume eye of three Blue Badge Guides and enjoyed an informative and education walk experiencing something of the  the emotion which this cause can evoke.  The walk was aided by a sustaining brunch to start and tea to conclude and was organised by Angie Lewis (Needlemakers).

A group of thirty Carta Consorts had a fun filled day during December 2016 when they attended The Wellbeing of Women charity Christmas Fair at the beautiful Drapers' Hall followed by lunch at Jamie's Italian in Threadneedle Street.  Lots of successful Christmas shopping was achieved followed by bubbles and an excellent lunch rounded off with mince pies and crackers.  The event was organised by Valerie Locks. Twenty-seven of us had a loverly day out (hic) with lunch and a little shop to finish at Denbies Winery.

We had two really good guides, Steve outside in the train and Mona for the inside tour with the tasting.  Both had been with Denbies for many years and Mona since it opened as a vineyard 30 years ago. The vineyard was suggested by a local neighbour who is geologist, when the arable and cattle farming was failing.  It now has 627 acres of vineyards and has won several awards especially for its white and sparkling wines
